WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Five Wake Forest athletic teams recently participated in D.E.S.K., an annual community service project in which volunteers from around campus paint desks that are given to elementary school students who are in need of a place to study in their homes.

Taking part in D.E.S.K., which stands for Discovering Education through Student Knowledge were the Demon Deacon men's soccer, women's soccer, women's basketball, volleyball and dance teams. The men's soccer team was the recipient of the Most Enthusiastic D.E.S.K. Team Award.

Altogether, the event provided 57 Old Town Elementary School students with desks for their homes. In addition to painting the desks on Manchester Plaza, members of each team attended a pre-party at Old Town Elementary to meet with the students and discuss designs for the desks.

D.E.S.K was started at Wake Forest in 2000 and has taken place on an annual basis since then.
