Monday Morning Golf Report

Jay Haas and partner Fred Couples made a run midway through the final round of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf on Sunday at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort but the duo closed with four pars and would finish tied for fourth at 23-under par.

Jay Sigel was paired this week with Allen Doyle and the group would finish tied for 26th after rounds of 69-65-70. Curtis Strange was the third Demon Deacon in the big name field but he and partner Ben Crenshaw would finish tied for 32nd at 7-under par.

The tour now heads to the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic at the Fallen Oak Country Club in Biloxi, Miss. Haas and Sigel will be joined in the field by Gary Hallberg and Leonard Thompson.

At the Nationwide Tour's South Georgia Classic in Valdosta, Ga., Kyle Reifers made the cut on the number and then posted rounds of 74-70 over the weekend to move up into a tie for 31st. This was Reifers' fourth cut made this season in five starts and he is now 21st on the money list with just under $51,000.

Ron Whittaker also made this cut this week in Georgia, after posting a second round 69. He then carded rounds of 77-74 over the weekend to finish tied for 57th. This was Whittaker's first cut made in four starts this year.

Len Mattiace was the final Demon Deacon in the field but he missed the cut. The Nationwide Tour will host the Stadion Athens Classic this week at the University of Georgia Golf Club. Reifers is the only one of the three Deacons scheduled to play this week.

Webb Simpson had a tough week at the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic as he posted rounds of 80-75 to miss the cut. He will look to rebound this week close to home at the Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, NC. Bill Haas will also be joining him in a very strong field.

The Futures Tour hosted the Historic Brownsville Open in Rancho Viejo, Texas, this week. Laura Crawford was the only former Deacon in the field and she finished tied for 74th after rounds of 76-72-75. The tour continues this week at the Texas Hill Country Classic in San Antonio, Texas. Crawford and recent graduate Nannette Hill will both be in the field.

The LPGA Tour is south of the border again this week for the Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. The EGolf Tour will host the River Hills Classic in the Charlotte, NC, area this week.
