Jay Haas got off to a tough start at the 2009 Senior PGA Championship at Canterbury Country Club, carding rounds of 74-71 but responded with rounds of 68-69 over the weekend to sneak into the top-10 and finish tied for ninth.

Scott Hoch was the first round leader after a 4-under 66 but followed that with rounds of 72-76-70 to finish at +5 and tied for 17th.

Gary Hallberg also made the cut this week after firing 69-74 in the opening two rounds. On Saturday, he made 17-straight pars and a bogey at the 18th to card a round of 71 and finished-up with a 74 on Sunday to finish tied for 37th.

Lanny Wadkins was the fourth former Deacon in the field this past week but he missed the cut after carding rounds of 72-80.

On the PGA Tour, both Webb Simpson and Bill Haas missed the cut at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Laura Diaz also missed the cut at the LPGA's Corning Classic this past weekend.

The Nationwide Tour had the week off and will return to the course at the Rex Hospital Open this week.

The PGA Tour stays in Texas for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial while the Champions Tour continues its schedule at the Principal Charity Classic at Glen Oaks CC, West Des Moines, Iowa.

The LPGA Tour is also off this week but will get back to action at the LPGA State Farm Classic next week.
