Wake Forest Finishes 44th In NACDA Director's Cup Standings

Wake Forest, which had nine teams participate in the NCAA postseason, finished 44th out of all Division I teams in the 2006 U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup standings. The Director's Cup, won for the 12th consecutive year by Stanford, goes annually to the nation's top overall athletic program.

Bolstered by top-four national finishes by the field hockey and men's golf teams, Wake Forest finished in the top 50 for the seventh consecutive year. Men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, women's golf, women's cross country and women's outdoor track all accumulated points for the Demon Deacons.

Stanford was followed in the final Director's Cup standings by UCLA, Texas, North Carolina and Florida. Remarkably, all 12 Atlantic Coast Conference schools finished in the top 51. North Carolina (4th) and Duke (8th) finished in the top 10. Florida State finished 17th, followed by Virginia (26th), Maryland (27th), NC State (34th), Clemson (39th), Miami (42nd), Wake Forest (44th), Virginia Tech (45th), Georgia Tech (50th) and Boston College (51st).
