Wake Forest Media Relations Office Announces Staff Changes

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest Athletics Media Relations Office has announced staff changes for the upcoming 2008-09 year. Katy Hamlett was promoted to Assistant Director of Media Relations after completing a year as the Media Relations Assistant. Chad Crunk was also hired as Assistant Director, while Gary Petit joins the Demon Deacon staff as Media Relations Assistant.

Last year Hamlett coordinated media efforts for Wake Forest's NCAA men's soccer championship team as well as women's soccer, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field. As assistant director, Hamlett will now serve as the primary media contact for the Wake Forest field hockey, women's basketball and men's and women's tennis teams.

Crunk enters his first year on the Wake Forest media relations staff. Crunk will serve as the primary contact for both the men's and women's soccer teams along with the baseball program.

Before coming to Wake, Crunk spent 10 months as an intern at Vanderbilt University where he was the primary media contact for the swimming and diving, track and field and women's tennis teams.

Crunk has worked several championship events, including serving as the media relations coordinator for the first and second rounds of the 2008 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament, hosted by Vanderbilt University. He also worked the 2008 Southeastern Conference Women's Basketball Tournament, along with the 2008 SEC Baseball Tournament.

A native of Hopkinsville, Ky., Crunk graduated from the University of Kentucky in December 2006 with a degree in journalism.

Petit also enters his first year on the Wake Forest staff. He comes to Wake after serving as a graduate assistant for Ohio Northern University's sports information office the past two years.

Petit will serve as the media contact for volleyball, men's golf, women's golf and men's and women's track & field.

The Marietta, Ohio native earned his undergraduate degree in sport management from Baldwin-Wallace College in 2006 and his master's in sport administration from Bowling Green State University in 2008.
