WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Fans planning to attend Wake Forest's home football game against Duke on Saturday, Sept. 11, should plan accordingly for potential traffic slowdowns.

Fans traveling on westbound Interstate 40 in Greensboro may encounter slower traffic due to the closing of I-40.

All lanes of I-40 West will be closed at the Freeman Mill Road exit in Greensboro. Fans approaching Greensboro on I-40 West are encouraged to take Exit 131 to I-85 South and travel to Exit 121 and take I-73 North to Exit 103-B which will re-connect with I-40 West.

Two other significant events taking place in Winston-Salem this weekend could increase traffic. A 5K race will be held in downtown Winston-Salem and Wake Forest fans are encouraged to avoid the Cherry Street exit from Business 40 between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The Winston-Salem Air Show will be taking place at the Smith Reynolds Airport. Demon Deacon fans traveling south on US 52 are encouraged to take the University Parkway exit. Fans traveling north on US 52 should take the Akron exit.

All Wake Forest parking lots will open six hours prior to kickoff. Tailgating for the Duke game will begin at 6 a.m. with kickoff slated for noon.
