Ask The AD-Gameday Experience

Over the last 18 months, a number of major athletic conferences, including the Atlantic Coast Conference, have negotiated new contracts with their television partners. That the TV networks are willing to spend large amounts of money to televise college sporting events is a testament to the impact of college sports on the American public. Fans of schools around the nation carve out time each week to watch their favorite team compete on television.

And while having a strong presence on TV is important to every university, it can also hamper an important component to having a successful athletic program: home attendance. With almost every football and basketball game available on TV, fans sometimes find it easier to sit at home and watch a contest rather than make the trek to the local stadium or arena.

At Wake Forest, one of our goals is to enrich the gameday experience so that all of our fans, throughout the region, would rather spend a Saturday afternoon at BB&T Field than in front of a television at home.

The new video board, which will be fully operational by our home game with Florida State on October 8, is one component of helping to enrich our fans' gameday experience. The nearly 4,000 square foot video board will show live video action, replays, and messages that will add to the pageantry of the college gameday experience at BB&T Field.

The video board will not be the only enhancement to the BB&T Field experience that our fans will enjoy this year. Our staff has taken your suggestions and have made changes at the concession stands. We will be offering a number of new menu items including a chicken salad and juice boxes, apple slices and raisins for our younger fans. Our gameday operations staff has also worked to include credit card machines at concession stands in order to make the purchase of food items a quicker and more enjoyable experience. All concession stands located near the student seating areas also accept the Deacon Onecard.

Our goal is to continue to make BB&T Field the best college gameday experience in the nation. Our fans deserve the best and we expect that we will be able to deliver.
