WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 18th-annual Winston-Salem Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at BB&T Field. Hosted by JDRF whose mission is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through research, the event will aim to raise money through participants in the walk.

Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman along with his wife Linda have been longtime supporters of JDRF and will serve as the walk chairs. The Wellman's have held several leadership positions on the Board of Directors in JDRF and are actively involved with helping find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

The event is open to participants of all ages and will feature free food and entertainment before and after the three-mile walk. There is no registration fee but walkers are encouraged to set their own fundraising goals.
