Deacon Student-Athletes Raise Over $4,100 For Operation Wounded Soldier

Nov. 13, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest student-athletes collected donations for Operation Wounded Solider at last Saturday's football game against Virginia and raised a total of $4,141.17 for the program.

Now in its second year, Operation Wounded Soldier is a program that benefits wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Last year, several Wake Forest student athletes and coaches delivered gift boxes to the medical center in early December.

This year's trip is planned for Monday, December 1 as Wake Forest athletes, coaches and staff will again visit the medical center with the donations going towards the cost of the trip and the gift boxes.

A large portion of the final total came from generous donations by members of Wake Forest's Moricle Society. Wake Forest would also like to thank all of the fans that donated so generously.

If anyone would still like donate to the Operation Wounded Soldier, please make a check out to Wake Forest University and send it to:
