Ron Wellman Column: Support the Deacons in the Music City Bowl

Dec. 9, 2011

As you are well aware, Wake Forest has been invited to the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 30. This is a great honor for the Demon Deacon football team which was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic Division in the preseason and yet fought its way to a 5-3 ACC record and a tie for second in the division.

This marks the fifth bowl game in the last 10 years and the credit has to go to our fans who have so strongly supported the team in the Orange Bowl, the Meineke Car Care Bowl and the EagleBank Bowl.

Part of what makes a team attractive to the bowl representatives is the school's ability to bring fans to the game site. In our last three bowl games, Wake Forest fans have answered the call, buying out every ticket allotted to us. We are grateful for your support and we realize that our fans have played a large role in helping us land these bowl invitations.

For the Orange Bowl, Wake Forest fans bought 17,500 tickets from the school and over 30,000 Demon Deacons were in the stadium that night. In Charlotte, our fans bought nearly 20,000 tickets through Wake Forest and we had 35,000 rooting the Deacons on to a win over UConn. Our fans also bought our entire allotment of tickets for the EagleBank Bowl victory over Navy in 2008.

We would like to encourage you to purchase your tickets through Wake Forest. You can access the link to our ticket site by clicking HERE. The more tickets we sell through the school, the stronger the message that Deacon fans travel well and will support their football team in the postseason.

Thank you for your continued support of Wake Forest football and Go Deacs!
