Season's Greetings From Wake Forest Athletics

Dec. 24, 2011

As we head into the holiday season, all of us in the Wake Forest University Athletics Department would like to thank you for your support throughout the past year. Some of the items that I am most thank for along with our Demon Deacon Athletes are:

First, thank you to all of you who supported our football program in 2011. You turned out to set the school record for season attendance at BB&T Field, filling the stadium beyond capacity four times. We continue in our determination to make BB&T Field the best stadium in college football for the fan. The addition of the video board added to the game-watching enjoyment of our fans and we will continue to add and upgrade all of the stadium amenities as we continue to make it the best experience for our fans.

Also, thank you for the way that you have embraced the changes that Coach Jeff Bzdelik is making in the men's basketball program. The improvements in hustle, attitude, togetherness and teamwork are evident. We are very excited about the future of the program and are grateful for our fans who have continued to give this team and program their loyal support.

I am especially thankful for all of our coaches and the way that they represent the values that are so important to everybody at Wake Forest University. Every one of our coaches has a championship attitude and strongly believes that they can and will win championships here. We are thankful for their winning attitude and their continued drive for excellence.

We're thankful for the continued good health of baseball coach Tom Walter and outfielder Kevin Jordan. One year ago, Kevin's future was in doubt as he underwent constant dialysis and awaited a kidney. Today, Kevin has completed the fall semester in excellent fashion, both on and off the field , and he and Tom are both fine and healthy and looking forward to the 2012 season.

Women's soccer made a historic run this fall, reaching the national semifinals and we are grateful for Coach Tony da Luz and his staff and the outstanding young players on the team. This was the best season that Wake Forest has experienced in women's soccer and we look forward to their continued success.

There is much yet to look forward to, starting with the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 in Nashville. We will watch closely as all of our spring sports teams pursue excellence. We will enjoy watching the tennis teams participate at their new facility. We will anxiously anticipate the ACC portion of the men's and women's basketball seasons and the ACC Tournaments in March. And this summer, we'll keep an eye on Olympic rosters as some of our Deacon athletes will be trying to land a berth on a team bound for London and the Summer Olympics.

From everybody associated with Wake Forest University Athletics, we thank you for your continuing support and we wish you and your family the most joyous of holiday seasons.
