Deacons Sixth in Director's Cup Standings

With eight fall sports in the books, Wake Forest is ranked sixth in the nation in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup Standings.

The Director's Cup awards points to each institution based on each team's success in the NCAA championships. A national championship is worth 100 points and a national runner-up earns 90 points.

Wake Forest earned 223 points in eight fall sports. The field hockey team reached the national championship game and earned 90 points as the national runner-up. Men's soccer advanced to the national semifinals and earned 83 points for a third place finish. The women's soccer team, which reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, earned 50 points.

Stanford, which has won 14 Director's Cups, is in first place with 394 points. The Cardinal is followed by North Carolina (265 points), Washington (261), Oregon (254), and Virginia (244).
