Assistant Athletic Trainer

Chris Hanks is in his first season as the head athletic trainer for Wake Forest football in 2016-17. Hanks joined the Demon Deacons following a three-year stint as the head trainer for the Chicago Bears.

Hanks is a 1989 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education with a special emphasis in athletic training and athletic administration. He earned his Master of Sports Management degree from Richmond in 1992.

Following his graduation from Ohio, Hanks accepted a graduate assistant position at the University of Richmond while also working as a trainer with the Richmond Braves (AAA). He was promoted to assistant trainer at Richmond in 1990 and served in that capacity until being promoted to head trainer in 1997. He left Richmond to become an assistant trainer with the Bears in 2000 and was promoted to head trainer in 2012.

Hanks is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. He and his wife Tracy are the parents of two daughters, Clare and Aerin.
