Director, Event Operations

Justin Van Nice is entering his second season with the Demon Deacon family and his eighth overall season within intercollegiate athletics, serving as the Director of Event Operations for the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial (LJVM) Coliseum.

Van Nice has been tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the LJVM Coliseum as well as the primary event manager for all events in the building. Events include Women’s Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and all other non-Wake Forest Athletic Department events including, but not limited to, concerts, theatrical performances, trade shows, graduation ceremonies, conventions, and other community events.

Some of his other athletic department responsibilities include football game day operations, assisting with capital projects within the LJVM Coliseum, and event generation for the LJVM Coliseum.

Prior to his time here in Winston-Salem, Van Nice served as the Director of Facilities and Operations at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, from 2012 – 2015 and was an Event Coordinator from 2010 – 2012 for Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Athletics Department in Tempe, Arizona. During those years, Justin played a major role in many events ranging from the BCS National Championship game, Men’s NCAA regional basketball tournament, NCAA Regional host site for Baseball and Softball, Celebrity events, International Soccer friendlies and the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Pageant.

A native of Redmond, Oregon; Van Nice graduated from West Virginia University in 2009 with a B.S. in Sport Management with minors in Business Administration and Communication Studies. In 2010, he earned a M.S. in Sport Management from West Virginia University where he served as an Athletic Facilities and Operations Assistant for the WVU Athletic department.

Justin resides in Clemmons with his wife Jessica, and his two-year old son, Dylan.
