Kurt Birkins is entering his third season as a ticket sales representative at Wake Forest in 2016-17. Birkins is responsible for group, suites and individual tickets sales for Wake Forest football and basketball, as well as the Winston-Salem Open tennis tournament. He also works with local businesses to support Wake Forest athletics while promoting the many benefits of being a Deacon Club member.

Prior to Wake Forest, Birkins spent 10 years playing professional baseball. He played parts of three seasons in the big leagues with the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays. He was a member of the Rays when the team won the American League pennant in 2008.

A Woodland Hills, Calif., native, Birkins started his collegiate baseball career at UCLA before transferring to Los Angeles Pierce Junior College. He was drafted by the Orioles in 2000 and made his major league debut for Baltimore in 2006.

After his playing career, Birkins enrolled at UNC Greensboro and graduated summa cum laude in 2014 with a degree in Recreation and Parks Management.

Birkins currently resides in Winston-Salem with his wife Ashley and 2 daughters, Charlie and Lila.
