The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and other food banks across the state will benefit from your efforts.

Quick Facts:

  • North Carolina has about 1.8 million residents experiencing food insecurity; nearly 18% of our state population
  • 81% of NC households receiving food assistance from food banks don't know where their next meal is coming from.
  • Reports show that North Carolina continues to have significantly higher rates of food insecurity than the rest of the country.
  • One in six adults and one in four children lack adequate food during any given month.
  • N.C.'s food bank network serves over 160,000 people per week. That is the equivalent to feeding all the residents of Asheville, Elizabeth City and Chapel Hill combined every week.
  • Harris Teeter's number one priority is eliminating hunger, and last year donated more than $9.1 million and 5 million pounds of food to hundreds of nonprofit organizations that qualify through the Corporate Contributions guidelines.
