Deacs Take Fifth at World University Dance Team Pom Competition

The Wake Forest University dance team took part in the 2016 Universal Cheerleading Association and Universal Dance Association College Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. on Jan. 16-17.

Highlighting the trip for the Demon Deacons was a fifth-place showing at the World University Dance Team Pom competition.

The Wake Forest dancers also competed in the Division IA Pom and Jazz categories, placing 16th and 25th, respectively. The trip to Orlando was Wake Forest's first at the UDA Nationals and was its first trip to a national championship since 2012.

The competitions saw the Deacon dancers compete against the best collegiate dance teams in the country. The World Championship Pom also included teams representing Australia, Japan, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
