Track and Field Wraps Up ACC Indoor Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. - Robert Heppenstall and Sebastian Fischbach earned All-ACC honors on the final day of competition at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Heppenstall finished third in the men's 800m to take home his third career indoor First Team All-ACC team honor. Heppenstall ran a season-best time of 1:47.19 en route to the bronze medal and currently stands fifth in the nation.

Sebastian Fischbach earned Second Team All-ACC honors after finishing sixth in the men's mile finals with a time of 4:05.65. It was Fischbach's first career all-conference honor.

Overall, the Demon Deacons brought in three All-ACC honors, with Alexandria Florent earning a first team award in the high jump on Friday. The Deacs also totaled 11 top-10 finishes in the three-day meet. 

On the track for the men, in his first-ever 3000m, freshman Daniel Viegra finished 10th with a time of 8:17.45. Also in the event, Tommy Johnston took 37th at 8:47.92. For the women, Sam Halvorsen finished 17th in just her second 3000m event. Her time of 9:43.55 was three seconds faster than her previous time.

The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Cydney Delley, Jordan Banks, Maya Hinton and Sarah Johnson, ran a season-best time of 3:47.45 to finish 13th overall.

The men, complete with Kaleb Bryant, John Archie, Dakota Greenwalt and Heppenstall, went 3:16.37, also a season-best time, to take 10th.

In the field, Janese Lynch finished eighth in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.21m (46-7.5). On the men's side, Max Adams finished 14th at 14.49m (47-6.5). Overall, the men finished 13th as a team while the women finished 14th.

Up next, the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 9-10 in College Station, Texas. The official announcement for participants will be on Feb. 27 at 10 p.m.
