WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men’s and women’s track and field programs will compete in the Camel City Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3 at the JDL Fast Track.

Twenty-Seven Demon Deacons are entered in the two-day competition, including 15 women and 12 men.

The meet kicks off on Friday at 1 p.m. with the mile run on the track and the high jump, weight throw and pole vault in the field. Events run through 7:30 p.m. on Friday and resume Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Admission on Friday is $7 per person for adults while students ages 13 and up are $4. Saturday’s admission for adults is $10 while students are $5, as the Camel City Elite races will take place Saturday afternoon. Children 12 and under are free on both days.

Last time out, the Deacs had five top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishers at the Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational. Robert Heppenstall led the way with his second-place finish in the 800m while Sebastian Fischbach took second in the mile. On the women’s side, Mimi Smith and Eliza Lukens-Day finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 3000m run. In the field, Alexandria Florent took third in the high jump while Alva Hicks claimed third in the weight throw.

After this weekend, the Deacons will split up for three meets. The team will compete at the JDL Team Challenge on Feb. 8 as well as the Iowa State Classic and Vanderbilt Music City Challenge on Feb. 9-10.
