WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete at the JDL Fast Track for the final time this season at the UCS Invitational Feb. 16-17.
Competition for the Demon Deacons begins on Friday at 6 p.m. with the men’s and women’s shot put. The men’s distance medley relay will also take place on Friday.
Saturday is set for a full day of competition, beginning at 10 a.m. in the field with the women’s long jump and men’s pole vault. Track events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s 60m hurdles preliminaries.
The Deacs are entered in 17 events throughout the two-day competition, including nine on the women’s side and eight on the men’s. Thirteen women and nine men will represent the Deacons.
Wake Forest will compete alongside fellow ACC schools North Carolina, Clemson and Duke, one week before the ACC Indoor Championships. The men’s DMR event will also prove to be fierce competition, as the Deacs will be competing against four schools in Georgetown, Florida, Duke and Virginia that hold a top-20 spot in the nation for the men’s DMR.
Admission is free for everyone on Friday evening but will be $7 for adults and $5 for students ages 12 and up on Saturday. Children 12 and under are free.
After this weekend, the Deacs will head to Clemson for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 22-24. Competition will start with the heptathlon at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22.
