Heppenstall to Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Robert Heppenstall of Wake Forest track and field will represent the Demon Deacons in the men’s 800m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, held March 9-10 in College Station, Texas.
This will be Heppenstall’s third appearance in the NCAA Indoor Championships. His freshman season he took fifth overall with a time of 1:49.06 while his sophomore year he also finished fifth with a time of 1:47.98.
The top 16 fastest times in the nation are invited to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships and Heppenstall enters this weekend ranked fifth in the country. His best time this season is 1:47.19, which he ran en route to a third-place finish at the ACC Championships.
The men’s 800m preliminary round will be held Friday, March 9 at approximately 8:15 p.m. The top three runners in each heat plus the next two fastest times will then advance to the event finals, held Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
The meet will be streamed live online on ESPN3. The broadcast window begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
