Heppenstall Advances to 800m Finals at Canadian Track & Field Championships

OTTAWA, Can. – Wake Forest men’s track & field student-athlete Robert Heppenstall advanced to the 800m finals at the Canadian Track & Field Championships on Friday (July 7).

The rising junior is competing for a spot at the 2017 IAAF World Championships on the Canadian national team. The World Championships will be held in London from August 4-13.

Heppenstall won his heat and finished second overall with a time of 1:47.65 to automatically advance to Saturday’s finals. The top two final athletes earn  bids, pending they meet qualifying standards, to the represent team Canada at the IAAF World Championships.

Last season, Heppenstall finished third in the event with a time of 1:46.78.
