Heppenstall Finishes Second at Canadian Nationals

OTTAWA, Canada -- Wake Forest track and field rising junior Robert Heppenstall finished second in the 800m finals at the Canadian Track & Field Championships on Saturday (July 8).

Heppenstall was competing for a spot on the 2017 IAAF World Championships on the Canadian national team. He finished second with a career-best time of 1:46.26, however the time was just shy of the 1:45.90 World Championship qualifying standard.

Heppenstall finished fourth in the 800m at the outdoor NCAA Track & Field Championships and fifth at the indoor championships. He will return to Wake Forest for his junior season as the school record holder in the event.
