Demon Deacons Compete at Bull City Classic

DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country programs opened the season at the Bull City Classic Friday evening.

Inclement weather delayed the start of the race by more than an hour and forced the competition to move on to the track.

Duke won the meet on both the men's and women's side. The overall triangular scoring on the men's side saw Duke finish with 15 points while Wake Forest finished second with 50 points and NC Central took third with 80 points. For the women, Duke also finished with 15 points while Wake Forest had 52 and NC Central finished with 85.

Sophomore Kathryn Kenwood paced the Demon Deacons on the women's side, as she finished eighth in the 4K with a time of 14:21.0. Jenna Truedson was next in ninth with a time of 14:31.0. Lara-Ann Schwede clocked in at 14:44.0, Kaitlin Derry finished at 14:45.0 and Beatrice Boylan finished with a time of 15:20.0.

On the men's side, senior John Archie finished 10th with a time of 19:54.0 in the 6K while Robbie Barr, Nick Beglane, Andrew Magiera, Jack McGowen and Myers McKinney all clocked in at 19:54.0 as well.

Next up, the Demon Deacons will travel to Cary, North Carolina to compete in the Adidas Cross Country Challenge on Sept. 15.
