Men Take Third, Women Fifth at Adidas XC Challenge

CARY, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men finished third overall out of a 13-team division while the women's squad took fifth out of 13 at the Adidas XC Challenge, held Friday evening at the WakeMed Soccer Park.

Both the men and the women competed in the White division, which was designated for DI programs.
The men ran the 6K event while the women ran the 5K.

Angelos Vasileiou led the men with his 25th-place finish in the 6K with a time of 18:46.9 while grad transfer Eliza Lukens-Day paced the women after finishing 15th with a time of 17:50.4

The men averaged a time of 19:10.78 in the 6K while the women averaged a time of 18:15.92 in the 5K.

Freshmen Tommy Johnston, John LePino, Anna Campbell and Kristen Haynes made their collegiate debuts, finishing 41st, 42nd, 27th and 73rd, respectively.

Wake Forest now has two weeks to prepare for the Paul Short Run, which will be held Sept. 29 in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
