WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Thursday (Aug. 31) the 2017 ACC Cross Country Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the league's head coaches. The Wake Forest women were projected to finish seventh, while the Demon Deacon men were selected 10th.

The women are coming off an eighth-place finish at the 2016 ACC Championships while the men finished 13th. The women were also just 23 points shy of an auto-bid to the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

This season, the ACC Championship will be held Oct. 27 in Louisville, Kentucky.

In the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Cross Country Rankings, the women were selected to finish fifth while the men were selected to finish ninth.

It is the first preseason ranking for either squad since the 2015 season when the women were also ranked fifth and the men were ranked ninth.

The Demon Deacons open the season on Friday (Sept. 1) as they compete in the Bull City Classic in Durham, North Carolina.
