About Hammond... Versatile pitcher who can be used both as a starter and out of the bullpen... will play a swing role on the staff... hard worker who continues to progress...spent the summer of 2006 with the Lake Havasu Heat of the Pacific Southwest League... was the first Arizona native to come to Wake Forest since Mike MacDougal... majoring in business... born on April 20, 1986 in Tucson, Ariz.

In 2007... Appeared in four games, all in relief... went 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 3.1 innings pitched... earned the win in relief against Gardner-Webb on March 6... pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two in the victory.

In 2006... Redshirted the season.

In 2005... Made 18 appearances and eight starts... went 3-6 with a 10.69 ERA... struck out 42 in 51.1 innings of work... picked up victories over Virginia, Elon and High Point... best outing of the season came against the Cavaliers (March 6) when he went 6.0 innings and allowed two earned runs.

Prior to Wake Forest... Three-year letterwinner as pitcher... named All-Southern Arizona first team in both 2003 and 2004... participated in the Arizona All-Star game after season... an all-region selection ... went 7-0 with 81 strikeouts in 2003... participated in the 2003 Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif... also a standout prep golfer and swimmer, earning a pair of letters in each sport.
