A talented pitcher with loads of potential... definitely slotted into the weekend rotation... needs to serve as the backbone of starting rotation... struggled in ACC games last season... needs to take the mound with more confidence... honorable mention Freshman All-American in 2002... his fastball stays in the 87-89 range... has a good curveball and a change-up, which could be his best pitch... has added a cutter to his arsenal... pitched in Cape Cod League for Yarmouth-Dennis in 2002 and Hyannis in 2003... a former 17th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates... a communications major... born October 27, 1982 in Highland Park, Ill.

In 2004:
Posted a 3-6 record with a 7.18 ERA... pitched a second-high 67.2 innings while striking out 33... appeared in 14 games including 13 starts and registered one complete game... threw four innings against Liberty allowing just three runs and striking out four but did not factor into the decision... pitched a complete game against Western Carolina giving up just four runs and striking out two in a 16-4 win... pitched eight shutout innings against Tennessee-Martin with four strikeouts, but again did not get the decision... in the next outing threw five more shutout innings against Virginia Tech, allowing just three hits and two strikeouts for the second win on the season... threw for eight innings allowing just two hits and an unearned run against VCU... struggled in ACC play recording an 0-3 record in five starts with a 12.79 ERA.

In 2003:
Had three excellent starts to start his sophomore season, including a 6.2 inning, one run, seven strikeout performance in the Metrodome against Notre Dame... struggled in ACC play... finished the year with a 2-5 mark and a 6.61 ERA with 46 strikeouts and 28 walks in 65.1 innings... made 12 appearances and earned 11 starting assignments... fired seven strong innings against Le Moyne on March 8 allowing just two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and only one walk for his first win of the year... won his next start at Maryland with another seven solid innings... yielded just two runs on eight hits and fanned six Terrapins to improve his record to 2-0... left the VCU game with a lead on May 11 after giving up three runs through six innings with four strikeouts... suffered losses at North Carolina, at Florida State, vs. NC State, vs. Virginia and vs. Clemson.

In 2002:
An honorable mention Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball... ended his rookie season with a 6-3 record, a 4.41 ERA with two complete games... tossed 87.2 innings with 71 strikeouts... spent some time in the ACC weekend rotation... got off to an great start as a freshman but struggled in the middle portions of the year... began to regain his form in late-April and performed well in the postseason... struck out a career-high ten hitters on May 15 at West Virginia in just 6.2 innings of work... did not factor in the decision but allowed just one run on three hits... threw a complete game win vs. Charlotte, striking out seven... fanned nine in a win over Cincinnati on February 23... won three consecutive starts in April... had a scoreless streak of 15.2 innings, spanning four starts between Feb. 23 through March 11... yielded four earned runs in his first 29.1 innings.

At Stevenson HS:
Led his legion team to an Illinois State Championship... participated in the Area Code Games... posted a 2.06 ERA with 85 K's in 68 innings in 12 games at Stevenson High School.
