Earned his way into becoming an important member of the pitching staff ... Didn't allow a run his first two outings, throwing 4.0 scoreless against Bucknell (Feb. 14) and Western Carolina (Feb. 21) ... Threw 2.0 perfect innings against Towson (March 1) to pick up his first collegiate victory ... Pitched well against top-25 Miami, allowing one run in 4.0 innings while striking out six ... Also started against top-25 Coastal Carolina, allowing a run in 4.0 innings ... Made best start of the year at Charlotte (Apr. 21), going a career-high 6.0 innings, allowing one run with three strikeouts and no walks ... Finished the season with a 3-2 record and 6.61 ERA ... Played summer ball with the Martinsville Mustangs in the Coastal Plains League.
