The Purple Aces jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning, capped by a three-run homer from Vince Serafini. Wake Forest battled back to trip the lead to 5-3 with two runs in their half of the first and a single run in the second, but the Aces plated three insurance runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach. Doug Schoenekase and Brett Motz delivered key RBI-singles in that decisive inning for Evansville.

Wake Forest will return to action on Wednesday when the Demon Deacons host Davidson at 2:30 p.m. at Hooks Stadium.
