Athens, Ga. - ATHENS, GA - Danny Borrell and Stephen Sullivan both hit home runs to lead No. 21 Wake Forest to a 8-2 victory over Georgia on Saturday afternoon at Foley Field in Athens, GA.

With the victory, Wake Forest improved to 4-1 while Georgia dropped to 4-1.

Mike MacDougal (2-0) picked up the victory for the Demon Deacons after allowing two runs, one of which was earned, in six innings of work. MacDougal allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out ive batters. Scott Siemon earned his second save of the year by tossing three scoreless innings to close out the game.

Chris Clark (0-1) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs after surrendering five runs in 5.1 innings.

Wake Forest jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning with a two-run homer by DH Danny Borrell, his third of the season. The Demon Deacons stretched the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning when shortstop Chase Voshell singled, stole second base, advanced to third on a fly out and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ben Danosky.

Georgia clawed back to make the score 3-2 with a pair of runs in their half of the third inning. Josh Dorminy and Chris Hays both drove in runs with ground balls as the Bulldogs sent eight men to the plate in the frame.

The Deacs answered back in the fourth inning when Stephen Sullivan blasted a two-run homer to center field to put Wake Forest back in front by three runs again, 5-3.

Wake Forest added two more runs to take a 7-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning when Danosky delivered a two-run double that scored Voshell and Scott Daeley. The Deacs added an insurance run in the eighth on a RBI double from Jason Aquilante that plated Sullivan.

The Bulldogs struggled all day to score runs, leaving 11 runners on base, while Wake Forest only stranded four runners in the game.

Wake Forest and Georgia will conclude their two game series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
