Baseball Defeats Campbell 12-5

WINSTOM-SALEM, NC--Sophomore Jeremy Ward (3-2) pitched six innings giving up only three hits and one unearned run to pick up his third win of the season and lead Wake Forest past Campbell 12-5 in college baseball action on Tuesday afternoon at Hooks Stadium.

With the win Wake Forest improves to 10-3, while the Camels fall to 7-8.

The Wake Forest batters delivered the Deacons' third straight game with 10 or more runs. Over the last three games Wake has scored 54 runs, while Deacon pitchers have allowed only two earned runs.

Wake Forest junior first baseman Jon Palmieri was the game's leading hitter as he was 3-4 with three runs scored and two rbi. Junior rightfielder Ben Danosky delivered a double in a 2-4 performance. Danosky led the Deacs with three rbi in addition to his two runs scored.

Junior centerfielder Scott Daeley broke out of a slump that saw him batting .115 over the last eight games. Daeley was 2-5 with a double and two runs scored.

Campbell was paced by rightfielder Chris Warren who was 2-3 with three rbi. The Camels' starter Eric Snover (0-1) took the loss in the game giving up seven runs, all earned, in three innings of work.

Wake Forest returns to action tomorrow when the Deacons host Virginia Commenwealth at Hooks Stadium. First pitch is 2:30 p.m.
