HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Ben Breazeale slugged three home runs as Wake Forest defeated High Point, 18-8, at Williard Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Demon Deacons (13-5) have now had two hitters record three-homer games in the same season for the first time in program history. Gavin Sheets did so earlier this year.

Breazeale finished the game 5-for-6 with seven RBIs, singling twice in addition to his three homers. It was his first-career multi-homer game, and he also set career-highs in hits and RBIs. Johnny Aiello added three hits and a home run, while Sheets had two hits, a double and a homer.

Breazeale drilled his first longball of the day in the top of the first. After three walks, he hit an opposite-field grand slam, the second of his career, to put Wake Forest in front, 4-0.

High Point's (8-7) Josh Greene hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and Zack Gray hit a solo shot in the fourth to cut the Wake Forest advantage to 4-3.

Wake Forest responded with a six-run fifth inning, fueled by a two-run bomb by Breazeale, an RBI double by Sheets, an RBI by Jonathan Pryor and a pair of High Point errors, making the score 10-3.

Sheets hit a solo homer to spark a four-run sixth inning, which included an RBI single by Logan Harvey and two run-scoring wild pitches, pushing the lead to 14-3.

Zach Seal added an RBI single in the seventh, and the Deacs scored another on a Panther error.

After the Panthers scored three in the eighth, Breazeale and Aiello added back-to-back dingers in the top of the ninth to put the game away for good.

Carter Bach (2-0) earned the win by striking out three batters in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Drew Loepprich, Holden White and Shane Kubrak also had scoreless outings out of the pen.

Jake Mueller and Seal had two hits apiece, while Keegan Maronpot was 1-for-3 with three walks.

Wake Forest continues its five-game road swing this weekend, traveling to Duke for a three-game series at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
