DURHAM, N.C. -- Wake Forest pulled away late to defeat Duke, 11-2, and clinch the series at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Sunday afternoon.

Connor Johnstone (2-0) tossed 7.0 innings of one-run ball, striking out six on five hits and two walks as the Demon Deacons (15-6, 4-2 ACC) clinched their second-straight ACC series.

Offensively, Jonathan Pryor (3-for-5, double, walk, three RBIs) and Ben Breazeale (2-for-4, double, three runs) combined for five of Wake Forest's six hits.

But the Deacs also combined for eight walks, five hit by pitches and took advantage of four errors by Duke (11-11, 3-3 ACC).

With the game tied at 1-1 through five innings, the Deacs took advantage of three sacrifice flies over the next two innings, from Keegan Maronpot, Gavin Sheets and Breazeale, to take a 4-1 lead.

Wake Forest plated four runs in the eighth on an error, a two-run double by Pryor and an RBI by Stuart Fairchild to push the margin to 8-1.

The Deacs closed out their scoring with a Pryor RBI single and Jake Mueller two-run single in the ninth.

John McCarren tossed a scoreless eighth inning, retiring the side on seven pitches, including a strikeout.

Wake Forest is back in action on Tuesday, taking on Charlotte at BB&T Ballpark, home of the Charlotte Knights.
