GREENSBORO, N.C. -- UNCG scored 18 straight runs in the middle innings en route to an 18-3 victory over Wake Forest at UNCG Baseball Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Demon Deacons (20-16) appeared poised for a good start. Jonathan Pryor had a leadoff walk and Kevin Conway perfectly executed a hit-and-run for a single to put runners on the corners.

But the Spartans (26-9) forced a double play and groundout to only allow one run to score, and UNCG claimed the momentum for the remainder of the contest.

The Spartans put up crooked numbers in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Parker Johnson and David Peljovich each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Gavin Sheets went 2-for-4 with a double and Johnny Aiello had a two-run single.

The Wake Forest offense drew nine walks, including three from Pryor.

L.J. Kalawaia led the UNCG offense with three hits, a triple and five RBIs.

Wake Forest is back in action this weekend, playing host to No. 4 Florida State for a three-game set from Friday-Sunday.
