ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Wake Forest scored 11 runs off 11 hits as the Demon Deacons outpaced UNC Asheville 11-6 on Tuesday night at McCormick Field. It was the last non-conference game in the regular season for the Deacs.

Wake Forest (28-24, 13-14 ACC) built a 4-0 lead over UNC Asheville (13-36) and continued to add runs late to down the Bulldogs.

Joey Rodriguez tallied two doubles and two RBIs in the game while Charlie Morgan hit his fourth homer of the year. Jimmy Redovian added a two-RBI double in the ninth inning while Evan Stephens, Conor Keniry, Ben Breazeale and Joe Napolitano each had an RBI in the game.

Connor Johnstone got the start and win on the mound, going 5.0 innings, giving up two unearned runs on six hits while striking out four with no walks. Matt Pirro pitched in relief and gave up just one hit in 1.2 innings while Will Craig, Garrett Kelly, Matt Conway and John McCarren also pitched.

Wake Forest scored early as Morgan blasted a home run to deep right center field. After Stephens led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, Morgan sent his fifth homer of the year over the wall to put Wake Forest up 2-0.

The Demon Deacons extended the lead to 3-0 in the third inning as Keniry had a sacrifice fly to score Joey Rodriguez. Breazeale tacked a fourth run in the fourth inning as he doubled down the left field line to score Nate Mondou from first base.

UNC Asheville scored two runs in the fifth inning as one run scored on a wild pitched followed by an RBI-single by Phillip Treadway to bring the Bulldogs within two.

Wake Forest responded in the seventh inning as the Demon Deacons recorded three runs. Breazeale and Joe Napolitano each singled to lead the frame off followed by a sacrifice bunt from Grant Shambley. Rodriguez doubled in the next at-bat to score two runs for his second two-base hit of the night.

Stephens put Wake Forest up 7-2 to complete the inning as he singled to right center scoring Rodriguez. Napolitano doubled in the eighth to tack on an additional run for Wake Forest. It was the first double of the season for Napolitano and the fourth on the night for the Deacs.

UNC Asheville's Hunter Bryant doubled off the right field wall to drive in a run in the eighth but was thrown out at third trying to stretch a triple.

Wake Forest continued to add runs as the Deacs loaded the bases to start the ninth inning. Conway singled to drive home one while Redovian lined a double to right field, plating two addition runs and putting the Deacs up 11-3.

UNC Asheville plated three runs and loaded the bases in the ninth but McCarren got the Bulldogs to ground into a double play to end the game by a final score of 11-6.

Treadway had three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs while Evan Steible took the loss.

The win ensures a winning season for Wake Forest with three games remaining in the season. Wake Forest hosts No. 1 Virginia in a three-game series at Wake Forest Baseball Park beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m.
