Wake Forest Begins Practice on Friday

2013 Wake Forest Quick Facts By Steven Wright, Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@SIDeacons) WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tom Walter, the Wake Forest baseball team will participate in its first official practice of the 2013 spring season on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Demon Deacons will practice until 7 p.m. on Friday and will have a pair of four-hour practices on Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) before having an off day on Monday. In total, Wake Forest will have 17 sessions to finalize its preparations for the beginning of the 2013 season. Wake Forest is slated to begin the regular season on Friday, February 15, with a doubleheader against Alcorn State and Louisiana-Monroe in Monroe, La. The Demon Deacons will open up the home portion of their schedule on Friday, February 22, against Youngstown State at 4 p.m. The ACC schedule will also begin at home for Wake Forest, as the Deacs will host North Carolina (March 8-10) and NC State (March 15-17) on back-to-back weeks to open up conference play. Wake Forest finished the 2012 season with a 33-24 overall record and a 13-17 record in ACC play. The Deacs earned the 7th seed in the 2012 ACC Baseball Championship and went 1-2 in the tournament with a win over NC State.
