No. 20 Wake Forest Tops No. 26 Coastal in Slugfest, 19-9
Stuart Fairchild hit a grand slam and a three-run shot for his first-career multi-homer game as the Deacs swept the season series over the defending national champs.

The Matchup
• Wake Forest heads into a tough week with four games scheduled against top-25 teams, beginning with a trip to No. 24 Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.

Patrick Frick has reached base in 10 straight plate appearances (4-for-4, five walks, HBP), while Christian Long also reached in all five of his plate appearances Sunday (2-for-2, two RBIs, three walks).
• Two Demon Deacons posted double-digit strikeout efforts over the weekend; Griffin Roberts fanned 11 in his start on Friday, while Morgan McSweeney struck out 10 in 6.0 innings of relief Saturday.

Wake Forest Storylines
Griffin Roberts was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his efforts over the weekend. In Friday’s 8-1 win over UMass Lowell, Roberts struck out a career-high 11 batters in 8.0 innings. He didn’t allow a baserunner until the fifth inning and allowed just one run on two hits.
• The Demon Deacons have already started six different freshmen position players, while four rookies have seen time on the mound.
• The Deacs are coming off their second Super Regional appearance, finishing a game away from the College World Series. Wake Forest finished the year with a 43-20 record and set program records in ACC wins (19), ACC series wins (eight), All-ACC honorees (nine), MLB Draft picks (eight) and home runs (106).

Opponent And Series History
