WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest baseball team returns to conference play this weekend as it hosts Atlantic Coast Conference rival NC State. The Demon Deacons are now 9-8 on the season after picking up a pair of wins in midweek games. Wake opened the week with a 3-1 win at Appalachian State, before beating High Point 6-5 on Wednesday.

Against the Panthers on Wednesday, Wake Forest trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but rallied for four runs. Steven Brooks hit a game-winning, two-run double to put the Deacs on top to stay. High Point had the bases loaded with one out in the eighth inning, but Brandon Johnson shut down the Panther offense to pick up the first save of his collegiate career.

Wake Forest enters the weekend with an 0-6 record in ACC play. The Deacs dropped three games at Clemson last weekend.

NC State is 10-9 on the season and 1-5 in league play. The Wolfpack split a pair of non-conference games during the midweek, defeating North Carolina Central 8-4, before falling to Elon 5-3 on Wednesday night. In its last ACC action, NC State dropped two of three games to Maryland.
