Sullivan Earns ACC Baseball Honors

March 26, 2001

GREENSBORO, NC - Last week, Wake Forest senior All-American Cory Sullivan shared ACC Player of the Week honors for his performance with the bat. This week, Sullivan picked up conference honors for his pitching performance as he was named ACC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Sullivan, a senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., pitched a complete game win against 10th-ranked Clemson. He allowed just one earned run and struck out five Tigers in the game. It was just Sullivan?s second career start and fifth career appearance on the mound. Sullivan was no slouch at the plate, either. He hit a team-leading .467 (7-of-15) with three stolen bases over the weekend.

Sullivan is hitting a league-leading .561 against ACC foes. On the mound, Sullivan has a 1.80 ERA and would be leading the league in that category but is five innings short of qualifying to rank among ACC leaders.

Wake Forest (18-7, 6-3 ACC) hosts Old Dominion on Wednesday before hitting the road for a weekend series at 11th-ranked Florida State. Sullivan is expected to pitch the Saturday game of the series which will be televised live on the Sunshine Network at 7:00 p.m.
