April 11, 2000

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest baseball team moved up in all three major college baseball polls this week.

The Deacs moved from 24th to 11th in the Collegiate Baseball poll, from 18th to 12th in the Baseball America Poll and from 23rd to 15th in the Baseball Weekly Coaches' Poll.

Wake moved up in the three polls as a result of going 5-0 in the past week. The Deacons won road games at Campbell and East Tennessee State during the week and then swept a three-game home ACC series with then-No. 5 North Carolina. In all, Wake has won nine games in a row and currently ranks third in the ACC with an 11-4 record. The Deacs are 29-9-1 overall. Wake Forest will be on the road for five games this week. They play at UNC Greensboro Tuesday night, at Virginia Tech on Wednesday and have a three-game ACC series at Clemson over the weekend.
