WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Seventeen members of the Wake Forest baseball team will spend their summer vacation on the baseball diamond, playing in six different collegiate summer leagues.

Four Deacs will travel to the northeast to participate in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Since the summer of 2000, 33 Wake Forest players have played on the Cape, which is widely regarded as the premier summer collegiate league in the country.

Steven Brooks, Michael Dimock, Shane Kroker and Mike Murray will be competing in the Cape Cod League this summer. Brooks, a sophomore outfielder, and Murray, a junior catcher, will be teammates on the Chatham Anglers. Dimock, a freshman pitcher, will suit up for the Bourne Braves, while Kroker, a freshman infielder, will play for the Hyannis Mets.

All four players will be making their debut in the Cape Cod League. Several of the most successful Wake Forest baseball players have spent their summer with the Chatham ball club, including Jon Palmieri and Mike MacDougal in 1998, Ryan Braun and Dave Bush in 2000, Jamie D'Antona in 2002, Allan Dykstra in 2006 and 2007 and Evan Ocheltree in 2008.

A pair of Deacs will spend their summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Carlos Lopez, a freshman infielder/outfielder, will play for the New Bedford Bay Sox, while Ian Tomkins, a sophomore catcher, will be behind the plate for the Newport Gulls.

Three Wake Forest players will stay close to home over the summer and play in the Coastal Plain league. Micah Jarrett, a freshman outfielder, and Zach White, a freshman pitcher, will play together on the Gastonia Grizzlies. Ryan McGrath will be on the mound for the Wilmington Sharks.

Ryan Bouton, Bentley Heyman and Ryan Semeniuk will head south to the Florida Collegiate Summer League. All three players will play for the Clermont Mavericks. Bouton will be a Maverick for the second consecutive summer.

Freshman hurler Gabe Feldman will spend the summer in his home state, playing for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

Wake Forest will be well represented in the Great South Collegiate Baseball League as four Deacs will play in the league this summer. Mark Adzick, Brandon Johnson and Eli Robins will play for the nearby Kernersville Bulldogs. Sophomore Ryan Lloyd will play for the Newnan Braves.

Updates on Wake Forest players in summer ball will be available on WakeForestSports.com.
