WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Several Demon Deacons received accolades from the NCBWA, Perfect Game, D1Baseball and the ABCA on Wednesday and Thursday.

On the NCBWA All-America teams, Stuart Fairchild was selected as a first team All-American outfielder and Ben Breazeale was named the second team All-American catcher.

The Perfect Game/Rawlings All-America teams feature Fairchild as a first team outfielder, Breazeale as the second-team catcher, and Gavin Sheets as an honorable mention first baseman.

On the D1Baseball teams, Fairchild was named a first team outfielder and Sheets picked as the third team DH.

Those three were also named to the 2017 Atlantic-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first team, joined by third baseman Johnny Aiello. The second team also featured pitcher Parker Dunshee and second baseman Jake Mueller.

Fairchild, a second-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds, has been named a first team All-American on all three teams released so far. He hit .360 this year with 19 doubles, 17 homers and 67 RBIs, also stealing 21 bases and not committing an error defensively.

Breazeale, a seventh-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles, finished the year with a .333 average, 16 doubles, 11 homers and 51 RBIs. He capped his season on a high note with three homers at the NCAA Super Regional at Florida, including a ninth-inning game-tying homer in game one and an 11th-inning walkoff homer in game two.

Sheets, a second-round pick of the Chicago White Sox, hit .317 with 21 homers and 84 RBIs - power numbers that rank second in program history. The first team All-ACC selection also led the team with 46 walks, striking out just 37 times.

Dunshee, a seventh-round selection of the Oakland A's, finished the year 9-1 with a 3.91 ERA. Wake Forest's all-time strikeout leader, he also became just the second Deacon to record back-to-back 100 strikeout seasons, finishing with 111 (fourth in program history) in 103.2 innings.

Mueller, a sophomore, finished third on the team with a .345 average in 60 starts. He recorded 16 doubles, 58 runs and 34 RBIs, also stealing six bases and earning a .979 fielding percentage at second base.
