GREENSBORO, N.C. – A total of four Demon Deacons were named to the ACC Baseball Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.

Honorees include seniors Ben Breazeale and Parker Dunshee, redshirt-sophomore Bruce Steel and sophomore Jake Mueller.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Out of the 54 selections, Dunshee becomes the only four-year recipient of the honor. Five others did so for the third time.

A finance major, Dunshee was a seventh-round selection of the Oakland A's in this month's MLB Draft. He finished his career with a 28-10 record and 3.20 ERA, setting the new program record with 330 career strikeouts. He went 9-1 with a 3.91 ERA and 111 strikeouts this season.

Another graduate with a degree in psychology, Breazeale was also a seventh-round pick this month, selected by the Baltimore Orioles. A Johnny Bench Award semifinalist who started more than 180 career games, Breazeale hit .333 this year with 16 doubles, 11 homers and 51 RBIs.

Steel, an economics major, returned from a 2016 injury in a big way this year. The shorstop started 52 games and hit .264 with 13 homers, 10 doubles and 38 RBIs, also stealing five bases. He had a .968 fielding position as the anchor of the infield, including going more than 30 straight games without an error.

A psychology major, Mueller took advantage of his first starting role as second baseman. The sophomore hit .345 with 16 doubles, two homers and 34 RBIs, also stealing six bases and posting a .979 fielding percentage.

The Demon Deacons finished the year 43-20 and won the Winston-Salem Regional, falling to eventual national champion Florida in the Gainesville Super Regional.
