WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest baseball player Garrett Bullock has signed a free agent contact with the Houston Astros to continue his baseball playing career.

Bullock has started his professional career with the Greeneville Astros, Houston's rookie squad in the Appalachian League. Bullock has made two relief appearances thus far and allowed one unearned run. He has thrown 1 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and striking out one.

A native of Greenville, N.C., Bullock appeared in 12 games, including 10 starts, during his senior season. Bullock went 1-5 on the year with an 8.08 ERA. Bullock allowed 49 runs, 44 of them earned, on 75 hits in 49 innings of work during the 2009 season.

Over his four year collegiate career, Bullock compiled a 9-13 record and one save with a 6.17 ERA. He spent most of his career in the starting rotation, making 36 starts in 46 total appearances.
