COTUIT, Mass. - Wake Forest sophomore pitcher Michael Dimock and the Bourne Braves captured the 2009 Cape Cod Baseball League championship on Wednesday, defeating Cotuit 5-1 to sweep both games in the best-of-three series.

The Braves captured the opening game of the series 15-5 in six innings. The game was called early due to fog. Dimock tossed the final 1 2/3 innings for Bourne, allowing four runs, three of them earned, on five hits, while striking out three.

For the summer, Dimock appeared in nine games and compiled a 2-0 record with a 3.42 ERA. The Greensboro, N.C., native struck out 25 batters and walked only five in 23 2/3 innings. Dimock held opposing hitters to a .211 batting average.

Dimock appeared in 21 games, including eight starts, during his freshman season at Wake Forest. He posted a 4-4 record with two saves and a 6.46 ERA. In a team-high 62 2/3 innings pitched, he struck out a team-best 51 batters and allowed 16 bases on balls.
