Came to Wake Forest after spending a year honing his skills at the Hargrave Academy in Chatham, VA ... familiar with Winston-Salem and the Demon Deacons, though, as he played his high school ball at nearby Glenn HS ... one of the top high-school basketball players ever produced in Forsyth County … averaged 19.9 ppg and 10.1 rpg in leading Hargrave to a 27-3 record under coach Scott Shepherd … shot 56% from the floor, including 44% from three-point range and 85% from the free throw line ... once hit five three-point baskets in a single game ... an adept passer, he also averaged 6.0 assists per contest … a first-team all-state selection as a high school senior at Glenn when he averaged 26 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks per game and shot an amazing 70% from the floor ... averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds as a junior ... played for coach Napoleon Cloud at Glenn ... twice the recipient of the "Frank Spencer Award" as the top player in Northwest North Carolina (as selected by the Winston-Salem Journal) ... played in the ACC-SEC basketball All-Star game in the summer of 1999 in Raleigh, an event that featured players that signed with schools in those two leagues ... scored 14 points in 15 minutes in that event, helping the ACC squad to a 145-115 victory.
