Pronounced ja-mall Shetz... has waited two long years to finally see action in a Wake Forest uniform... came to Wake Forest in the fall of 2000 and redshirted the 2000-01 season... last year Schoetz suffered a serious knee injury just one week into preseason practice in mid-October... tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee during a practice session... underwent surgery on Nov. 2, 2001 to repair the knee... was not able physically to participate in practice sessions the rest of the season... spent the last nine months rehabilitating the knee and is hopeful of making an impact this season... has great size and decent strength... the tallest player on the squad and one of just two true centers (freshman Eric Williams is the other center)... really benefitted from the redshirt season in 2000-01, going head-to-head daily with then senior centers Rafael Vidaurreta and Josh Shoemaker... has made great strides in his game since playing for the first time at age 15 in Germany... moved to the United States prior to his junior year of high school (1998-99) at High Point Wesleyan Academy... played two seasons on the prep level in the USA... previously played two seasons on the high school level in Germany.

2001-02 (sophomore)

Suffered a season-ending knee injury in mid-October... tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee during practice... spent most of the season on crutches.

2000-01 (freshman)

Redshirted the season... was able to participate in practice sessions.

HIGH SCHOOL

Earned two varsity letters at High Point Wesleyan Academy... played for coach Brad Ehrman... earned all-conference and private school all-state honors as a junior and senior for the Trojans... earned Pepsi all-state honors, which includes all high school classifications, as a senior... recorded three triple-doubles (points, rebounds and blocked shots) during his two-year career at Wesleyan... rated as one of the top 150 players nationally... averaged 20.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots per game as a senior... was a McDonald¡¦s High School All-America team nominee... named to the Winston-Salem Journal¡¦s all-Northwest team as a senior... had a single-game high of 11 blocked shots... shot 65 percent from the floor.
