Postgame Quotes - Wake Forest vs. Florida State

Wake Forest Head Coach Danny Manning
On coming out in the second half…
"I thought we did a good job executing in the second half. We had a low number of turnovers and had some guys step up and make some big shots and big plays for us. I'm very happy we had a team win and our guys get to celebrate tonight, but we have to come back and get prepared for our next game against another talented team coming in."
On the high and balanced scoring across the team…
"We feel like we have a full team that is capable of scoring the basketball. I thought we had good shot distribution. We also had guys made some big shots for us. Our guards especially shot very well. I also think this was one of Doral Moore’s better games, not only by making shots but also getting rebounds, playing good defense, blocking shots and even getting 3 steals."
On focusing on midrange shots…
"That is something that we've always been working on, but Florida State really forces you to take those shots. Their length and athleticism makes them come flying at you, and makes their close out speed really good. So, if you're not immediately shooting, you need to be ready to pass it or drive it. I thought we did great on driving, but sometimes drove it a little too deep and got ourselves in danger. But in general, I thought we did a better job making good decisions when guys came flying at them."
Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton
“I think that Wake Forest did a very good job of executing their offense and taking care of the ball. We couldn’t get them to turn the ball over or get the deflections that we normally get, and I thought that they were very poised. I don’t think that we were quite as sharp defensively as I would’ve like to have been.”
On Wake Forest’s offense…
“I thought that we were somewhat impatient on our offensive end. I think that they did such a great job moving the ball that it broke our defensive pressure down, and you have to give them credit for playing a great game and executing it."
On tonight’s loss…
“This is typical ACC. On any given night, any team can beat you in this league, and they did a much better job over the full 40 minutes than we did. I thought that we made some plays towards the end, and we were fortunate to get back in it but they maintained their poise, hit their free throws and I thought that that was the biggest difference in the game.”
