Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik

Opening Statement...
"As I said the other night, I want to thank our fans for their support. I know the weather wasn't nice, but we appreciate your support. I'm proud of my basketball team - they fought, they made shots and plays, both defensively and offensively, when they had to against a very athletic basketball team."

On Defense...
"We got soft defensively down the stretch as we started trading baskets, and we didn't stop the ball very well. We stood around a little bit. We need to improve in that area, no question"

On seeing improvements on defense...
"I did see some improvements. We made some free throws, and we also got the line 34 times today. I like our aggressiveness. We worked hard on the boards against a team that is athletic and we've made an emphasis to attack the boards better. Slowly but surely we're seeing progress, and that's a good thing."

On Chase Fischer...
"Chase is a freshman in his second game and he can make shots. He just needs to believe in himself. I certainly believe in him, and so do his teammates. He made some good and timely shots for us - we needed that."

On rebounding...
"It doesn't take great size to rebound, it's about athleticism, toughness, blocking people out, and a nose for the ball. We need to keep focusing on rebounding and doing a better job on that"

On the youth of the team...
"We're still a very young basketball team. We need to make some better decisions. Dribble less, pass more, see the whole court and see things before they happen as opposed to after the fact - and that will happen"

Georgia Southern Head Coach Charlton Young

Opening statement...
"Congratulations to Wake Forest. They did a great job tonight, and you could see that they've gotten a lot better since their first exhibition game. Travis McKie is very good, and he's a guy that I recruited very hard when I was an assistant at Georgia Tech. I think he's a Thaddeus Young or Shawn Marion type of player. We blew some golden opportunities and made some very unintelligent fouls, but we've grown as a team and we've gotten better with our eight freshmen and sophomores. At times we really look like a young bunch, but from our first game to our second game, I feel like we've gotten better."

On Ferguson and Hewitt's nights...
"I feel good about what those two guys did. Willie Powers and Ben Drayton, our two senior guards, played well also. Down the line I think that we have a chance to be a very good basketball team."

On playing so many young players...
"Any time you're depending on six freshmen like we were last season, you're going to have a rough year. The biggest thing that I've learned as the coach of this program is to never put yourself in a position where you're depending on freshmen. We can be a scary team as we mold this team and get better and better."
